2009-2010 season

Queens of Burlesque

April 24–May 23, 2010

Written by David Mann
Directed by John Miller-Stephany

A funny, poignant, and revealing look at the lives of burlesque performers both on and off stage. With a wink and a nod to both naughty and nice, you will be transported back to a hot August night at the Gay 90s in 1953 where the drama in the ladies’ dressing room is rivaled only by the dancers’ sizzle on the stage. As an era comes to an end in the wake of televisions and changinge social mores, these performers find themselves caught between economics of the time and the talents that they’d spent their lives honing. Stand up comics and girls with boas draped over just the right places make for a provocative night of music, dance, and laughter.
