Bringing a Group

History Theatre provides groups of all shapes, sizes (12 or more), and ages with a theatre experience that goes beyond just a discounted ticket price. From the moment you start planning your visit until the end of the post-show discussion, you will experience the personalized touch that makes our group experience stand out. We make it easy to bring any organization — Red Hats, church, employees, bank club, tour, neighborhood club — or just a group of your closest friends together for a matinee or evening of great theatre. Group rates are available for groups of 12 or more.

Group ticket prices

Weekday matinees

  • Adults, all seats: $22
  • Students, all seats: $10

Evenings and weekends

  • Adults
    • Tier 1: $28
    • Tier 2: $26
    • Tier 3: $22
  • Students: $10

Priority seating

For weekday matinees, groups will be seated together in the best possible seating available at the time when final payment is received.

For evening and weekend performances, groups will be seated together in the best possible seating available when the reservation is made.

History Theatre is a 587-seat, thrust stage theatre. No seat in the theatre is more than 40 feet away from the stage, even in the balcony. For more information, see our seating chart.

Accessibility

History Theatre offers a variety of complimentary services to make performances accessible to all patrons.

When ordering tickets for your group, please indicate any special needs that your students may have.

History Theatre is equipped with an FM hearing enhancement system. We offer ASL interpreted and audio-described performances. There is a handicap-accessible entrance to the building and the auditorium has 6 spaces for wheelchairs and companion seating.

Special events and receptions

Any of our shows are available for buyout for a special event for your organization. In addition, we are able to host receptions in our lobby area.

Directions & Parking for Buses

History Theatre has a loading and unloading procedures to make your arrival and departure by bus easy.
Groups arriving by bus will load and unload on Wabasha Street between 10th and Exchange Streets.

NOTE: Construction of the light rail through downtown St. Paul is underway. As you know, when it comes to major construction projects, things can change from day to day. These are the most up to date directions and will steer you around a majority of the construction happening on Cedar Street.

From west metro via I-94:

    Take the 10th Street exit, Go 2 blocks east
    Turn right onto St. Peter Street, Go 1 block south
    Turn left onto Exchange street, Go 1 block east
    Turn left onto Wabasha Street
    To Drop Off Passengers: Park along the RIGHT side of the street between Exchange and 10th Streets, under the skyway, and wait for a History Theatre staff person to come and greet your bus.

From east metro via I-94:

    Take the 12th Street (242A) exit toward State Capitol
    Turn left onto Jackson Street, Go 4 blocks south
    Turn right onto 7th Street, Go 4 blocks west
    Turn right onto Wabasha Street
    To Drop Off Passengers: Park along the RIGHT side of the street between Exchange and 10th Streets, under the skyway, and wait for a History Theatre staff person to come and greet your bus.

From north metro via I-35E:

    Take the 10th Street / Wacouta Street (107A) exit
    Continue straight onto Wacouta Street, Go 3 blocks south
    Turn right onto 7th Street, Go 6 blocks west
    Turn right onto Wabasha Street.
    To Drop Off Passengers: Park along the RIGHT side of the street between Exchange and 10th Streets, under the skyway, and wait for a History Theatre staff person to come and greet your bus.

From south via I-35E:

    Take the 11th Street (106C) exit
    Turn right onto St. Peter Street, Go 2 blocks south
    Turn left onto Exchange street, Go 1 block east
    Turn left onto Wabasha Street
    To Drop Off Passengers: Park along the RIGHT side of the street between Exchange and 10th Streets, under the skyway, and wait for a History Theatre staff person to come and greet your bus.

Bus Unloading Instructions:

PLEASE DO NOT UNLOAD YOUR BUS UNTIL A HISTORY THEATRE STAFF MEMBER MEETS YOU

Buses must unload on Wabasha in between Exchange and 10th Streets.
This is only a drop off zone, do not block the public bus stop at anytime.

NOTE: The Wheelchair-accessible entrance for the building is located on Cedar Street between 10th and Exchange Streets.
Please let History Theatre staff know in advance if there are members of your group in wheelchairs or in need of special assistance. History Theatre will be ready to greet your group and assist those patrons into the theater.

Bus Parking

Buses may park at the following places

  • Dr. Martin Luther King Drive by the Capitol. Please park in the south lanes going away from the Capitol.
  • There are 67 spaces along Fillmore, State, and West Lafayette Streets on the west side of the city.
  • Car Parking

    On the street: free parking after 4:30 p.m. and all day Sunday.
    NOTE: street parking is extremely limited because of Light Rail construction and related detours. If you want to park on the street PLEASE GIVE YOURSELF EXTRA TIME.

    In a ramp: 7A Ramp (Exchange Street - connected to History Theatre by skyway) and World Trade Center (7th and Cedar).

    NOTE: The lot across 10th Street from History Theatre belongs to the St. Paul Public Health Services. It is not a public lot. Park there at your own risk.
