Statement from Ernest Brigg, Artistic Director - Turtle Theater Collective

Marcie Rendon is an amazing and accomplished writer. When I was asked if I was interested in producing a play by Marcie, I said, of course.

When I got to hear the words of this play, I knew it was the next play Turtle Theater Collective had to get on its feet in front of an audience.

"Say Their Names" is a play about missing and murdered Indigenous Women; an epidemic that has been going on in this country for half a century, if not longer. I had been searching for a script to talk about this epidemic in North America for many years and hearing Marcie's words, placed the reality of what's going on in our world now in front of us.

More than anything I hope this play elicits a response from you as an audience. Some reaction to what is going on and hopefully a push for change either through political change or activism. I am still a firm believer that theater is a place where social change can begin when heard by the right people, in the right place, at the right time.
